Solid and Sturdy

The Industry series from Demeyere combines the best of two worlds: solid, sturdy, ‘American style’ cookware combined with Demeyere technology and European heritage. This elaborate range of cookware with an industrial look, developed by Belgian designer Stefan Schöning, will bring you a lifetime of cooking pleasure.

Remarkable to the series are the handles, which are ‘extra-large’ and finished with glass pearls. They are scratch-resistant and remain cool for longer. Ideal for use on a gas stove, the products can also be used on all other types of hobs.

Stefan Schöning

The Industry 5 series is designed by Stefan Schöning, a designer from Antwerp (Belgium) who in 2008 was elected for Belgian Designer of the Year. He is the man behind the corporate identity of the Belgian railways, but also develops furniture and cookware. His work has been featured in exhibitions in New York, Paris, London and Milan and has won several awards for his large portfolio.

Material

Silvinox®

The mat, polished series by Demeyere (Atlantis, Apollo, Industry and Athena) are equipped with Silvinox, a unique electro-chemical surface treatment system that was developed some 30 years ago in the Demeyere laboratories.

After exposure to polluted air, some fruits such as apricots, dishwashing detergents or overheating, stainless steel may discolour and become grey, matte or yellow. The electro-chemical Silvinox treatment is designed to prevent this effect.

Finger prints are another problem that is specific to stainless steel products. They are very hard to remove. Stainless steel treated with Silvinox alleviates this problem.

Silvinox, a unique system, enriches the material by removing iron and impurities from the surface and makes sure stainless steel remains silvery white, even after years of use.

5-PlyMaterial®

All Industry products and the frying pans/skillets Ecoglide Granite and Young by Demeyere are composed of a 5-ply material throughout. This combination of 5 alloys includes aluminum for even heat distribution and magnetic stainless steel on the outside for use on all hobs, including induction.

Cast handles

Because of their design and form of “cast” 18/10 stainless steel, the handles mostly remain fairly to very cool on electric/induction cookers. They are developed to minimize the heat conduction so you can easily hold them (50°C or 120°F). Watch out for gas cookers … flames lapping the edge of the base can heat up the handles.

The perfect pouring edge

The upper rim of the cooking pot (pan) has a specially designed pouring edge that avoids the spilling any kind of liquid while pouring.

In order to obtain a perfect pouring edge, the rim of the pot must be designed and manufactured allowing for a special form and shape. Cheaper or less well designed pouring edges of cooking pots or pans will function perfectly with water or low viscosity fluids but as soon as you try to pour thick sauces or custards, the problems start. The pouring edge of a Demeyere pot is shaped in a way that you can pour any liquid without spilling.

Philosophy and vision
Technology tailored to the intended use
In addition to your indispensable knowledge, love and patience, it is also important that you use the right dishes when cooking. Professional chefs know only too well that each cooking method requires specific cookware. Designing new products always begins with analyzing the cooking processes typical for each product. Our engineers then uncompromisingly develop and design exactly the technologies that meet these requirements. Intensive collaboration with renowned chefs, home cooks and housewives around the world has helped to develop cookware that simply achieves better results when cooking.

Technological innovations
Our principle of continuous development means that Demeyere G.C.V. always presents the most modern and powerful technology. In the late 1960s we were pioneers in the use of pure aluminum sandwich flooring. Years ago we developed our Silvinox surface treatment, which is still unique. Today, TriplInduc, our 7-ply material (with a thickness tailored to the typical cooking process), InductoSeal and ControlInduc® are world firsts from our company. And what do you think of our handles made of solid, cast stainless steel, which are usually still cool enough to touch even after hours of cooking?
