Le Creuset SAS is a French manufacturer of cooking equipment since 1925 and is based in Fresnoy-le-Grand. The German subsidiary, Le Creuset GmbH, is based in Kirchheim unter Teck in Baden-Württemberg. The company is now the world market leader for enameled cast iron cookware. The cast iron cookware is manufactured exclusively at the headquarters in Fresnoy-le-Grand, France.
History:
- 1925: Founded by two Belgian industrialists, Armand Desaegher and Octave Aubecq, in Fresnoy-le-Grand in France; Birth of the Le Creuset roaster
- 1952: The first exports to other European countries took place.
- 1957: Le Creuset took over one of its largest competitors, Les Hauts Fourneaux de Cousances, which had existed since 1554.
- 1970: Another competitor (Godin) was taken over.
- 1988: Paul van Zuydam bought Le Creuset and became sole owner.
- 1992: Le Creuset acquired the Screwpull brand.
- 1994: Le Creuset GmbH in Germany was founded.
From 1995 onwards, many branches were established around the world: in Hong Kong (1998), Switzerland, South Africa, Brazil and Spain (1999), Scandinavia (2003), Italy and Canada (2004), as well as a procurement office in China (2004 ). From 2010, branches were founded in the Czech Republic (2010) and Austria (2011).
