The wok was invented in Asia over 2000 years ago. Staub’s enameled cast iron is a perfect format for healthy and flavorful cooking. To complement the range of cast-iron cocottes, Staub has developed high-quality products for a variety of day-to-day cooking requirements. Discover a range of stackable oval or round dishes and roasting dishes also suitable for use as oven-to-tableware. These products have high quality matte black enamel on the interior, ideal for roasting, browning and keeping food warm. Staub cast iron distributes heat more efficiently, evenly and gradually, helping retain aromas and flavours. The range of special cookware from Staub will enable you to prepare wholesome and tasty dishes, from the most traditional to the most authentic, for your family and friends.
The advantages of enameled cast iron
1. Ingredients retain their nutritional value and the full intensity of their flavors. Meat does not dry out and vegetables remain juicy.
2. Whatever dishes you prepare in the roasting dish, you can rely on delicious and nutritious results!
3. The strength and heat-retention properties of cast iron have been appreciated for millennia in the kitchens of Central Asia.
4. Casting iron is a carbon-rich iron alloy, one of the materials that retains heat best, diffuses it slowly and distributes it absolutely evenly.
5. Once cast iron is hot, its heat-retention properties allow you to turn the heat down to a minimum for gentle simmering and reduced energy consumption.
6. Cast iron also retains cold: refrigerate before serving and your cast iron product will remain cool at the table.
7. Enamel, which is made mainly of glass, is extremely durable.
8. Enameled cast iron is compatible with all heat sources, including induction.

Each product is individually crafted using time-honored manufacturing processes. Production includes a hundred visual or technical inspection points to ensure that each item fulfills our uncompromising quality standards.
Pre-use care
Before using your cocotte, we recommend that you wash it with warm water and dishwashing liquid, and then dry it. We also recommend applying a small amount of cooking oil in your pot before using it, to enhance the properties of the special black enamel. Feel free to apply oil again before every use. Your Staub La Cocotte is now ready for cooking.
Precautions
- Regardless of the heat source used (electric, gas, induction), enameled cast iron cookware must be heated gradually to avoid thermal shock and possible damage.
- Select a flame or element that is smaller or equal to the dimension of the bottom of your Staub pot. Allowing flames from gas ranges to envelope the sides of the pot may cause discoloration or damageto the enamel.
- We recommend the use of wooden or plastic utensils.
- Do not overheat an empty pot; all cooking should be monitored.
- To avoid any risk of burns, always use a potholder or oven mitt.
- Do not place a hot vessel on an unprotected surface.
After use care and maintenance
After the pot has cooled from cooking, wash in warm water with dish- washing liquid and dry thoroughly with a clean cloth. Let pots sit in the open air before storing. Do not use bleach or abrasive detergents – if residue remains after cleaning, soak in warm water to loosen. Dishwasher use is possible, however the harsh detergents and abrasion with other utensils may cause damage and affect non-stick properties. Any products with wooden handles should not be put in a dishwasher at any time. Do not stack or store enameled objects without protecting the exterior surface. The knobs and handles may loosen with use. Check the tightness from time to time and gently retighten them if necessary.
