Staub Oval Cocotte, cast iron

The cocotte from STAUB is specifically designed for slowly braising meat and vegetables. It's also ideal for baking bread!

Cocottes originate from France, where they have a long tradition. They are made of cast iron, which retains heat for long periods of time and redistributes it evenly. This means that after quickly searing food, you can reduce the heat and keep your energy consumption low, even when cooking meals in this casserole dish for hours. It is suitable for any type of cooker, including induction hobs.

Cocottes from the La Cocotte series are additionally enamelled on the inside in order to enhance the cast iron’s braising effect and food even more flavourful. This coating is extremely durable and improves the more frequently the dish is used. You can use this oval casserole dish to whip up delicious braised dishes for your loved ones and then serve them in style using the dish itself.

Product features:

  • Ideal for searing and slow cooking meat, fish or vegetables
  • Juicy and tender cooking results thanks to the special teardrop structure in the lid
  • The matt black interior enamel is suitable for particularly crispy frying and is particularly hard-wearing
  • Optimum heat storage and distribution (energy saving)
  • Durable, easy to care for and scratch-resistant
  • Easy handling and cleaning
  • Suitable for all types of cookers including induction
  • Oven safe up to 250°C
  • Dishwasher safe
  • The taste of the food is enhanced

The special lid:
The secret is revealed by looking at the inside of the lids: their contoured undersides ensure that the aromas are optimally distributed when braising and cooking. While the condensation that occurs with conventional lids without structure accumulates on the side edges of the pot, with STAUB it is distributed evenly over the entire inside of the lid.
